Horrible period pains, could it be something else?!

Question: Horrible period pains, could it be something else?
Since I started my period 5 years ago I've had the most excruciating period pains ever. It's got worse over the years, a hot water bottle used to help and it would go away after a few hours, but now the pain lasts for about 2 days at the start, it shoots down my legs making them numb with pain and I can't walk, I also get sweaty and nauseous.

I have been to the doctors so many times about this and have been put on Mefenamic acid, Tranexamic Acid, Iboprofen, Paracetamol. I've also been for a vaginal ultrasound to check for endometriosis but there was nothing except a very small non cancerous cyst on my cervix.

The usual, heat pads, baths, eating bananas, excercise etc doesn't work. Nor do any painkillers even Feminax. The only thing that makes the pain a little bit better is putting extreme pressure on it, but when i do this i can feel hard bits which feel like i'm about to burst something.

I also get diarrhea, and a lot of passing wind. I constantly feel like I need the toilet (in both ways) and have clots in the blood.

Has anyone else had this and ended up with an explanation of what it could be? I'm at the end of my tether as it stops daily activity for at least 2 days a month and I have to stay in bed screaming and crying in pain.

I usually have a high pain threshold, piercings etc don't even phase me. But this pain is so unbearable it makes me feel faint and almost pass out even when lying down.

Sorry it's a long explanation, just wanted to get as much info as possible in !

Thanks for any help in advance

You sound like me before they found I had a fibroid in there. In pain when your on your monthly not able to do any thing, feeling sick not eating short temper and not able to do any thing having to live on birth control pills to get me through day to day life.

That was me when I was 27 (i'm 35 now). I found out I had a fibroid in my womb and it was 3.5 inches wide and that was my problem and 4 years later I get a second one and that one was removed and now I have a 3rd one growing so another op some time.

I suggest you go back to your GP and get them to refer you to your local women clinic that's how I found out after a few test that I had a second fibroid the doc's where not sure what it really was and I only went in for a look in side me and they decided to knock me out and that's when it was found.

See if you can get your self some norethisterone it's a hormone drug that boosts your levels and
it can help control the bleeding that's what they put me on after the second one as I was still bleeding in between my monthlies.
Sorry I have waffled a tab but I know how you feel. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.

It may be Dysmenorrhea. Symptoms are severe, disabling cramps without underlying illness. Symptoms may include backache, leg pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness.

Or Pelvic Inflammatory disease, if you could possibly have an STD. Check with your doctor about those two.

Sorry about your horrible cramping! I see you've just about exhausted remedies with little or no luck. Since you say that the extreme pressure helps but you're kind of afraid of doing it too much you might want to check this link for abdominal massage. It may just be what you need. Good luck.
