I'm only nine and i'm getting my period in a year.?!

Question: I'm only nine and i'm getting my period in a year.?
Well my Mom and Dr say i'm getting my period in a year. Im afraid im going through changes to fast! Is this normal? If not what should i do?

Answers:

I'm not sure how either your mother or your doctor can predict when you'll actually experience menarche. You'll get it when you get it.

Normal isn't the right word to use. It's not typical but girls are experiencing puberty at younger ages than they used to. Could be from the hormones in some foods. Do you eat fast food?

your mom and doctor are just predicting based on the physical maturity of your body. You may and may not get your period next year it depends on if your body is ready for the change. It doesn't really matter what age you are as long as your body is ready for it. If you do end up to be an early bloomer, don't be ashamed every ones body is different and gets their period at different times in life. I got mine when i was 13 years old. the usual ages is anywhere from 9-16 sometimes people get it even later than 16. This is one time where age doesn't matter, its the body's maturity.

I hope i helped :)
Good Luck :)

been there, done that

No-one can really tell you when you are going to get your period, but I think that your Mum and Doctor are thinking that maybe you might get them within the next year or so, because of the different things that you happening to you and your body.

I do have a niece that had her first period at 9 years old, but then they didn't come back till she was 12 years old. I also know of another 9 year old girl that had her first period at that age, but she hasn't had one since.

One thing to remember is, that every girl is different when it comes to puberty. So, don't go comparing your self with other girls your age, ok.

don't panic hun. you will start your period when your body is ready and not when your mum and doc predict!.
my daughter haven't long started her period, she's 11. it ain't that bad its something that all women go through.
hope i've helped chick :)

Wow - your mother and doctor can tell the future? That's crazy!
Women go through puberty at different ages, yours is young, but not unheard of.
I started menstruating at 11.
