get rid of all sources of sugar around you (candy, cake, cereal, loose sugar, soda, juice, ice cream) if you can. or ask your parents to not buy any of those things for a while. that's the most effective way for me, since if it's around me, i'll probably get bored and eat it. but don't give up fruits and vegetables, those are good for you.
If it would help you, just try to convince your parents to not buy anything too sugar-filled.
But avoiding sugar completely would be too hard, seeing as it's in A LOT of foods that you think wouldn't even contain sugar.
Anyways, you just need to have the will-power to not eat anything covered in sugar. Just...refuse to let sugar enter your mouth.
And no, you don't need to avoid fruits. The sugar in fruit is natural, and no where near as bad for you as sugar in a chocolate bar, for example, is. Fruit is perfectly fine to eat. No worries there!
Natural sugar like in fruits is better than straight sugar. Also, brown sugar is healthier than white sugar. Try to snack on small things, like almonds that will fill you up and reduce cravings. Try to avoid adding sugar, just slowly wean yourself off it by reducing the amount you have every day until you're at a normal, healthy level of sugar intake.
Kite, that grat advice! try just eating friuts and veg. Do not drink fruit juices, they hav more bad sugar put in them than cokes. But sure go for a day without sugar and since almost all food these days they put sugar in it! have a day where u just drink a lot of water. (:
