is 112 pounds too fat for someone 5'2?!

Question: Is 112 pounds too fat for someone 5'2?
The doctor had told me that at 102 I was underweight, and that I would be better at lest 10 more pounds. But I after gaining 5 pounds ( I am now 107) I feel reallly reallly reallly ugly... =( I like being more small because it feels like everything is more in proportion. My boobs are like a really small B, but my hips are naturally wide no matter what I do or how skinny I am, its just the way my bones are. But as I gain weight in only seems to go to my stomach and butt and I really liked having a small stomach and butt it just works with the way my boobs are!! lol does anyone understand my frustration? I actually was aiming for 98 pounds when at 102. Do you think that doctor was right or wrong?

Answers:

The doctor was completely right. Honey, I hate to say this because it sounds rude but the way you're obsessing about your weight sounds unhealthy and like your anorexic. You are beautiful and 112 is an amazing weight for someone at 5'2" with big hips. 120 is average and healthy for 5'2". I am 5'3" with big hips and B cup boobs and yet I feel sexy and hot. You shouldn't obsess over weight like this because no one is ugly at 107. In fact, I'd say you aim for 115. Just try to exercise and put on muscle weight if you're really that worried about it.

Trust me, you are beautiful and you should not be fretting like that.

Your an OK weight. I definitely understand. Your BMI is 20.5 and your in the 38% tile. The doctor was wrong about being 102. For your height I would say about 108.5 but like I said your weight is OK. As long as your happy that may be all that may should matter.

For being 5'2 102lbs isn't underweight, but it's about as low as you want to go. 112 isn't over weight, or fat. It's about a good middle range. I'm 5'0 and weigh 113lbs, and I'm not fat. It also depends on how your body portions this new weight, as you've said it seems to have just gone to your stomach and butt. Chances are though, it isn't that noticeable to anyone but you. I would say 112lbs is a healthier weight. But seeing as how uncomfortable you are at 107, I'd say maybe round it off to 105. Or try working out, then you gain muscle weight which weighs more than fat, but certainly looks better on the body.
