I have a question about Pads?!

Question: I have a question about Pads?
Ok, please do not go on about how icky or unhygenic it is because I am completely aware.

I have been wearing the same pad for nearly four whole days, but i have been using toilet roll on top of that to ensure an enhanced protection. Whenever I go to the toilet the pad barley has any blood on it so I remove the previous toilet papr and insert about 12 sheets more on top of the pad - I wind it around. Can anyone give me a proper answer on the effects of it, is it safe and can this cause infection? Thank you.

Hi Sweetie!

I don't want to rant or judge because when I first got my period I didn't tell anyone for almost a year and had to employ these type of tactics in the mean time. Having said that, I really am worried for you. The very first question if I may ask is why are you doing this? To save money? Surely, you aren't doing it because you are just too lazy to change it, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Are you are scared to tell your mom about your period like I was? If you are doing it to save money than maybe you should invest in something like a mooncup where you can use the same "device" over and over and just have to wash it out . If you want to learn more about that then just google it, okay? If you are doing this because you are scared to tell your mom about your period or scared to ask for pads than sweetie you need to realize there is nothing to be ashamed of. ALL healthy women go through this and your mom can be your support system that you really need! It will be uncomfortable at first but after awhile it won't even be embarassing to ask her for pads it will just be normal. And being emotionally uncomfortable for a short while is better than being physically uncomfortable because you are wearing the same pad for so long. Maybe you only live with your dad and this is why you are embarrassed? Don't be sweetie, you obviously need his help and you are his little girl and always will be regardless of getting your period and I am sure he understands it is just a fact of life just like any other bodily function.

The process that you described you go through is honestly not sanitary at all. Even with the rolling up of the toilet paper on top it is still really a bad idea. I am worried about first and honestly how bad the old blood must stink, You may not smell it but trust me others do and nothing is more disgusting than dried up old blood and I know you don't want others to think of you in this way. Pads should be changed at least 3 times a day. Also, yes, you are putting yourself at risk for infection. In the meantime while you work up the courage to get the help you need; I would just wear the toilet paper alone or even folded up paper towels but please don't make this a habit okay? I am kind of just assuming that your problem is with telling your mom/dad but no matter the cause please don't keep doing what you are doing.

personal experience

If there is hardly any blood on the pad, then a pad may be too much protection then what you need. Your vaginal area gets sweaty, and combined with heat and discharge, can be a breeding ground for bacteria and that can cause yeast infections or UTIs.

I would suggest wearing a panty liner instead of a pad. They are MUCH thinner and can be changed on an as-needed basis.

Wearing a pad for more the 6-8 hours is not recommended.

It's probably best to change your pad. Maybe get panty-liners, for a lighter flow. If it's your first period it's completely normal for it to be light. But just to be safe, you probably are going to want to change it every now and then.

It's not safe and it will cause infections. The bacteria from the pad will repopulate o t the sheets zoonosis hitting your you know what

NO! dont do this. You have to change your pad even if it isint that bloody.

noo it cant =] chnge ya pad gurl its gna stink doe =] xx
