too scared to talk to mum about puberty?!

Question: Too scared to talk to mum about puberty?
I'm 13 and I'm too scared to talk to my mum about bras, periods and shaving. My mum and I are really close, but for some reason I find it hard to talk to her about that stuff. I think she's waiting for me to ask but I'd love it if she did. I'm pretty sure she'll understand if I ask for a bra but she might say I'm too young to shave. Luckily I've got an older sister but I don't know how she asked and I don't think she shaves. So please give me some advice on how to talk to her about this stuff? I'm feeling really alone right now? :'(

Don't be shy! Remember, she has been through all this before too! She wears a bra, has her period, and shaves! Personally, I think you should not have to shave, but that depends on your growth of hair. Talk to her privately, or bring it up sometime. Just make sure you dad is not around! ;)

Don't worry. It's scary to bring some topics up. Heck, I check all the health sections here, and i've probably seen this EXACT question 100s of times. So it's not just YOU ok?

And don't be scared of it, a parent knows sooner or later this talk needs to be had. She's probably waiting for YOU to bring it up because telling someone too long before they need it just means they'll FORGET all the important bits when they need to know.

So take a deep breath, and say "mom, I have some questions I really need answered." And if you have any specific ones you need more in depth answers then she gives, that's what YA is for.

Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Girl inwas in the same position not too long ago. The next time that your riding in the car alone with her jut say, "hey mom, I'm gonna need a bra soon... When can you take me shopping?" and for the shaving, " hey mom, I'd like your permission to shave my legs because people at school tease me about my hairy legs and it's emabarrassing."

Experience

Don't feel alone! Just about every female around has gone through EXACTLY what you are feeling! If you can't start this conversation with your mom, write her a note and leave it where only she will see it. Maybe on her purse? I promise you, she will then sit down with you privately and answer any questions you have. If you want to build up some courage, talk to your counselor or school nurse or a teacher you like first. And how about your sister? Good luck!

You need to buy supplies b4 u start u may be embarrest and start in public

just say it straight up. "mummy please get me a bra..." just do in the car on you way to somewhere there might be some or even in you house wen your guys are alone... no boys allowed!! haha. THEN ask about shaving if she thinks your to young then that's her opinion but if you just come out with it you ll feel alot better
