My 11 year old sister asked me to help her go on diet?!

Question: My 11 year old sister asked me to help her go on diet?
She came up to me a few hours ago and told me that she thinks she's too fat and that she needs to lose weight as fast as possible. This really itsn't like her, I mean she is not over weight, but she does always lose a lot of weight in the summer, so i suppose she could feel different. I asked her why she suddenly wanted to go on a diet and she said "because all the girls at school are smaller then me and I feel awkward when i'm around them."

I know exactly how she feels, when I was 14 I was really overweight, but I lost it all. I used to feel weird and to big to fit in. Shes not overweight, but she is pretty tall for her age and a bit more developed then most of the girls at her school. She also said that one of the girls called her a "fat cow." That stung, I'm a bit protective. But my question is what to do with her? Shes not overweight at all, and she's only 11?! I'm 16, I can't put her on a diet, i don't want to or need to in anyway. I don't want any of the girls to keep calling her names or bullying her. What do I do? I'll probably tell our mom tomorrow, but she's the type that would freak out over something like this, thats probably by Anna (my sister) came to me. How can I tell her that she doesn't need to go on a diet and that she's fine the way she is? i told her that and she said "Your just trying to make me feel better"

Answers:

Here a healthy diet for a 11 yrs ;; Lots of fruits ; vegetables ; 6 ounces of meat [ daily ] 3 once of cheese every 2 today's ; and nO Junk food at any time . She would loose weight and it will be good for her health NOTE . Even if you refuse to help her ; she will find some-else who will gave her a diet ; and it will be harmful for her health ]

I keep this weight calculator bookmarked. Maybe showing her the results you get (by inputting her
age, weight and height) will convince her she is at a good weight.......Be sure to check that's true by
first getting the results before having her do it. I figure if she is within 5 pounds of her ideal weight, she's doing fine. http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.ht…

Hi,
Tell her to eat healthy, avoid bad fatty foods, this will increase her health to. Tell her it's ok to treat herself and make sure she never obsesss over food. This is diet but a eating to a healthier future in fact everyone should do this. She will look healthy and feel great.
Hope I helped.

Tell her that she's just going through puberty earlier than the other girls and that pretty soon she won't be taller than everyone else. Tell her that she's not fat, she's just more mature/developed looking than her small friends who still have very child like bodies.

No 11 year old should ever be on a diet to lose weight unless they are actually obese. Use this time to help her learn how to eat properly. Concentrate on health and not numbers on a scale which mean nothing. I'm way heavier than my best friend but she can't walk up a flight of stairs without breathing hard while I can run up them. Thin does NOT mean healthy.
