No, you don't need to shave. The staff will look after you just fine and will be used to seeing young girls who have never visited before. They may want to examine you to test for sexually transmitted diseases but they won't do this without your authority. I would advise that you accept though as some diseases are only detected with a test as they have no obvious symptoms. Also, they may want to simply chat and give you some advice on how to avoid unwanted pregnancy, diseases and just to help keep you healthy. It's really nothing to worry about and you're very lucky to have a mum that cares about you enough to want to keep you healthy by booking you this appointment. I'd take every test they offered and heed all their advice as they will be the best source of knowledge for you.

no you need to shave. shaving is only a choice some girls make so its cleaner down there during periods and sex. they will probably give you an exam to make sure everything is healthy and to make sure you don't have anything. don't worry the people there will take care of you and answer any questions you might have. my first visit was last year for birth control and i just went this week and had my first exam. the staff there answered my every question and told that i'd be fine and it nothing bad will happen. just be honest with your GYN you can tell them anything. i asked mine about sex because my boyfriend and just started having sex and it was my first time ever with a guy and im 22 she answered my questions on what i could do to make sex more comfortable for us because he is big and im small and it hurts. if you have questions about birth control they will be more than happy to answer it. you don't have hide anything from them they dont judge or lecture at all. it's nothing to worry about.

Your mom and a nurse will be in the exam with you. The gynecologist will gently look inside your vagina and take certain tests. It takes minutes. You need to at least be clean. No douching? Or scrubbing away valuable information that the doctor can get from looking, feeling and even smelling.
