Can the depo shot be used to control periods like the pill can?!
Question: Can the depo shot be used to control periods like the pill can?
Answers:
One problem is that that there is a link between use of depot in young teens and an increase in the risks of osteoporosis. Progesterone only contraception, which includes depot, tends to produce dysfunctional, irregular and often ongoing bleeding, in most women for at least the first 3 months. With ongoing usage this tends to settle and increasing numbers of women either lose their periods entirely or only have an occasional one. By 1 year only 30% of women still have regular periods. In a given individual is is thus difficult to predict the effect.

Yes it can. It's very similar to the pill, patch, but it's a shot.
