Will starting birth control totally screw up my cycle?!

Question: Will starting birth control totally screw up my cycle?
I just got birth control from my gyno, I'm supposed to start the pill the day I start my period, which should be soon. My cycle is pretty predictable right now, usually 28 days. I'm going to Virginia Beach for my senior year spring break, April 1st.. I obviously want to be able to have fun and not worry about being on my period. As of right now, if my cycle stays regular, I won't be. I'm wondering.. if I start my birth control, is it totally going to screw up my cycle and throw it off so I might be on my period for spring break? I know it typically makes things a little irregular at first. Should I wait until after spring break to start it, just to make sure I won't be on my period? My birth control is called Portia by the way, if anyone has experience with that particular pill.

There is a chance it will mess up your cycle as your body adjusts to it. So it might be better if you start it after spring break and just use an alternate method of birth control. I hope this helps.

once you start the pill, your period should come when you take the white pills. it could take your body time to adjust though and you could have spotting before and after then.
if you don't want to worry about your period, then don't start the pills. make sure you use other forms of birth control though.
