Suddenly, my period is really heavy?!

Question: Suddenly, my period is really heavy?
I am 25 years old and I always had very light periods however, never regular. To regulate my period, I got on the pill about three years ago. Usually I have to change a light tampon every three to four hours or so but, this time I had to switch to super plus tampons and I have to change it almost every hour. And, I still leak sometimes even then.
I feel like I have to look for the bathroom everywhere I go just to check.
I have not changed my diet, and I eat pretty healthy and my stress level hasn't gone up that much.
My physical activity is about the same also.
Just wanted to add that I never had any cramps, and this time there are no cramps either.

Why is this happening and how do I stop it?

Thank you

Answers:

What I would do is make a note that this period was heavier than it has been in the past wait until your next period and see if it's the same. If you have two heavy periods in a row, it's time to call your doctor.

If it doesn't happen for the next period though, it's just a fluke.

It could be that you've just gotten too used to your birth control. After some time, a certain birth control can stop working correctly for you. I would go see your doctor about that.
