I haven't had my period in a year. How do I get it back to normal?!

Question: I haven't had my period in a year. How do I get it back to normal?
I was stressed & worried most of last year due to family problems, could that have played a part on my period not coming? I also gained like 20 lbs.

You should see a doctor. 20 pounds is enough to throw off your period entirely.

Could be PCOS -- do you have any other symptoms? Acne? Were your periods painful when you had them? Have they always been irregular?

Take a look at these symptoms:

You can't get your period back to normal on your own. There are many routes you can take, but I suggest getting a blood workup from your doctor to rule out hormone imbalances.

I have PCOS. Know what it's like to not have periods for a year!

Honestly, your best bet would be to go see your gynecologist and ask him/her for advice on this. Yes, stress can cause your period to get screwed up, but for a whole year? I don't know about that one. Weight gain can also cause that, but I'm not sure about only 20 pounds, unless you were over-weight to begin with. Go see what the doctor thinks. There could also be something else that's causing this as well, which would need to get checked out.
