Question: What causes women on the DEPO PROVERA shot to gain weight?? Would it help me gain weight?
Ive noticed from the reviews that nearly all the women on this shot gain weight.
Why is this? is it the actual shot itself? or is it down to the individual eating more? exercising less?
Or does depo increase appetite?
Id love to know as ive always been quite skinny and would love to gain a few pounds, so if a contraceptive could do that for me it would be a real bonus.

Hello. One word....hormones. Hormones can change your metabolism, so you can have weight gain. They can also increase your appetite, then you eat more, and once again, weight gain. But hormones affect everybody differently. So one person who takes them might gain a lot of weight, and another person might only gain a little, or none at all. I was on the pill for years, and never gained a pound, but other people i know that took it gained a lot of weight. It just depends on the person. You won't know how it will affect you, until you try it. Take care.

I think it's a certain hormone in it. Probably progesterone.
