My scale says i gained 5 pounds in 1 day.. is this true?!

Question: My scale says i gained 5 pounds in 1 day.. is this true?
Just sunday i ate about 2,100 calories. My maintenance calories are 1800. I didnt over stuff myself at all, its just the food i ate were high in calories. I also walked and jogged about 6-7 miles that day so i burned a few hundred calories.
Is it just water weight? or is it my actual weight?

10 points for an answer that corresponds to my question, thanks!

Wow, I can't believe some of the answers you have in just a few minutes. If I were you I would not worry about a weight change of 5 pounds. The average person has a 3-7 pound influx in weight in a given day. A five pound change in weight would not be due to caloric intake. If you consistently ate too many calories it would take you longer than a day to put on real weight. The weight may be due to the increased amount of salt, water, or most likely yu weighted yourself at a different time of day than usual or you ate or drank something different before getting on the scale. Just having a glass of water before getting on the scale can cause an inaccurate change in weight between each day.

It's easy to gain and lose 5 lbs in one day... If it happens that quickly it's usually a reduction in water weight. I can literally step on the scale before a run and then weigh myself 1 hour after a run and lose 5 lbs. Also a night after high calorie drinking I also weigh much less first thing in the morn. To get an accurate measure weigh yourself at the same time of day and always before your workout... Maybe only 1 x a week or less frequent to account for small fluctuations.

It's not possible to actually gain five pounds in one day. All the food you eat and water you drink has a weight. It will even out in a few days when the water you're retaining has diminished and you've had a bowel movement.

Seriously, you should poop. I've lost like 5-6 lbs. Just doing that alone, and i'm a pretty small guy. Also muscle is heavy and just by running you may have packed some on. XD

maybe your pregnant? or it could be water weight. or ur scale could be broken.

its probably water weight, or maybe you ate something salty which makes your bloated
