Are these period cramps?!

Question: Are these period cramps?
I am in a bit of confusion and could do with some advice from someone with experience of these things. I am 16 and haven't started my period yet. Over the last four of days I have had the flu and experienced achy bones and muscles. I am pretty much recovered now though and yet I am still experiencing pain in my lower stomach/back area. It started yesterday and I assumed it was just the flu aches but now I'm beginning to be doubtful. I don't know what they feel like but I am going to describe them. At first it felt like a dull ache through my lower back and across my hips. It also feels really odd like nausea does - that wobbly weird feeling, except it is lower down. Today I have felt stronger sharper pains like shooting pains where I suppose my uterus would be, particularly on the left side, like someone is using a pin to stab me from the inside and then tug a bit. Also it kind of resembles that feeling you have when you have trapped wind, but it isn't trapped wind. I thought it might be all in my head but then I started feeling it when I wasn't even thinking about it. Could these really be cramps and if so how long do you think it will be before I bleed? If not could it be that I have pulled a muscle (I dance) or a psychological thing? Thanks!

Answers:

They could be, but it also could be just leftover cramps from the flu. If it were cramps from your period, they usually come a day before your period.

It could be your period but then again it could be all in your head. I got my first period right after I had been pretty sick. You're kind of old to not have gotten your period yet. Have you seen a doctor about it?
