Question: Okay so this is pretty weird fort me to ask but....?
Is It normal that Ive never used a tampon because I'm to afraid of the toxic shock syndrome thing and because I'm afraid I'll put it in wrong.... Any tips out advice you can give me?

Answers:

you shouldn't worry about using them!! Unless you leave them in for too long you will not get the toxic syndrome!!

I use them because they are so much cleaner!!

My advice would be to go for a shower and once you come out lying on you bed and try putting it in that way first! It will be a little uncomfortable at first but you just need to wait for the tampon to loosen up! Best type to use would be Tampax pearl! The are really smooth! Hope this helps! I was the exact same as you at first!

Not to worry, some women never use tampons. However, those who do think it makes life much easier.

Toxic Shock Syndrome is very rare, and it's unlikely that you'll get it.
You can reduce the chance of getting it by using low absorbency tampons, and alternating between tampons and pads.

It's fairly easy to put in a tampon. For your first time, I recommend using the lowest possible absorbency. Plastic applicators are the most comfortable to use. Put the tip of the applicator at the vaginal opening, and push the tab of the tampon in. Hopefully, you won't feel anything. That means you've done it correctly.

Good luck!

No it's not weird at all. When I first got my period I used pads because I didn't know how to use tampons and was afraid of TSS too. But pads are so uncomfortable and limit you so much. I finally tried tampons when I was in middle school. I'm 21 now and so glad I switched. Just make sure you change them regularly and if you're really scared then use pads when you sleep and tampons during the day.

Also, read the little book/instructions that come in the tampon box. It really helped when I first started using them. Good luck hun!

Its completely normal! Some people dont ever use tampons, but they can be much easier that pads. Dont worry, i was nervous about it too! Toxic shock syndrome is dangerous but it is very rare. For the first time using a tampon, use a light or slender tampon. It will be easier to put it in if it is smaller.
Hope I helped, good luck :)

yeah, it's normal to be a little nervous. but you should just forget about it bc getting tss is very unlikely. Just make sure u change it every 4-8 hours and ul be fine. if ur super concerned talk to your doc about it or do some research online.

My girlfriend has never used a tampon either and she told me that there are directions on the tampon package.

It doesnt matter what you use, as long as you are comfortable and it keeps yuh feeling clean then dont worry about it. Tampons arent that great anyway
