Some Questions about breast cancer and breasts? Girls only!?!

Question: Some Questions about breast cancer and breasts? Girls only!?
Okay, I have to write some essay for Sex Ed about a worried 12 to 13 year old girl in her point of view about her puberty and stuff, (I go to an all girls school) and here are some of the questions from her point of view and I don't really know about this since I didn't have this problem when I was younger. Questions:
1. My breasts are flat, not even budding, and all my friends, younger and older, have much bigger breasts than me and I'm worried.
2. Does wearing a bra give you a higher chance of breast cancer?
3. Are there any ways to quicken breast budding?
4. My breasts are flat and then sometimes when I change clothes they can be slightly bigger?
5. Does wearing a sports bra help breast growth?
6. Does heat affect breast growth?
7. I am not obese, but I am not skinny, and a have a lot of fat in my body, just not on my chest.
8. Any foods I could eat that help breast growth?
9. (Optional) Are there any Breast cancer donation boxes I can trust, or like a marathon or something?
Okay, Thanks!!! :)

Answers:

1. She shouldn't compare her body to her friends. Each and every girl developes at her own rate, some much, much slower than others. Comparing herself to others will only make her feel worse about herself, and can bring up many insecurities. At 13-14, her body is still maturing, and is in no way finished, it is only just the begining!!!

2. No, wearing a bra has no affect on her chances of getting Breast Cancer. If that was the case, many, many women wouldn't be wearing them!!!

3. There are breast enhancers, both drug and physical, that are said to help encourage breast growth, such as breast pumps, but the jury is still out as to whether they work or not. As someone once said, if there was one certain thing that helped breasts grow, we would all have DD sized boobies! At her age, however, none of these things should be tried, as she could damage blood vessels and breast tissue because her breasts are still developing.

4. Tight clothing will make breasts look bigger, as will loose clothing that gathers around the chest region. This is something many women know and use to their advantage. If she wants someone to think she has breasts, she should wear the tight clothing. If she wants to hide her budding breasts, she should wear loose, baggy, non-gathering clothing.

5. No. A sports bra gives more support during vigorus activity, and doesn't do anything to aid growth and developement. If she has big enough buds, however, she should get used to wearing a sports bra, to give her comfort and that support.

6. Again, no. Heat has no affect on breast growth. Heat does, however, make breasts uncomfortable and itchy(from sweat), and so heat is best avoided to keep herself comfortable.

7. Although breasts are made up of fatty tissue, and their growth is affected by weight gain/loss, if they haven't matured yet, then her weight will have no bearing on their size. Like the first answer said, depending on when the women in her family finished breast maturation, her breasts will more than likely follow along those lines. This includes her dad's sisters and mother, too.

8. Foods do not have anything to do with breast growth and delevopment, sorry.

9. Choose the one that is most advertised in your area. If you see it on TV, read about it in magazines, see it on billboards, then there is enough publicity that you can safely say ''yes, this is where I want to give my money''. Remember, any money donated goes to researching a cure for this horrible diesease.

No worries!!! Hope this helps!!!

I'm a 21 year old female.

Pretty much every thing about breasts are determined by genetics, including cup size and risk of breast cancer. Nothing will help them shrink or grow aside from plastic surgery. If you're in the US, the Susan G. Komen foundation is well known for supporting breast cancer research.
