Yup, no longer than 8 hours.

It ranges. If you're a heavy bleeder, you may have to change it as often as every 2-3 hours. It sounds as if you're not a heavy bleeder. You may need to simply change the size of the tampon you're using, or even keep it in a little longer if its not completely used. For sanitary reasons, I change mine after 4 hours tops no matter what. They can begin to smell if left in too long. Depending on your activity level. I don't know what type of tampons you use, but try Tampax pearls. They are the best!!! Play around with different sizes until you find one that you're comfortable with. They have about 4 or 5 different sizes. Bigger ones for your heavier days, smaller ones for your lighter days. Hope I've helped.

if you sleep with a tampon, then put one in right before you go to bed and as soon as you wake up.
also if you sleep for more than 8 hours, its best if you use a pad overnight.
