How can I stop slouching?!

Question: How can I stop slouching?
So I have this really bad habit of slouching. Not only is it totally not feminine, it's bad for my health and makes me look like I'm 80 years old. How can I stop? I usually do it unconsciously (i.e. I don't know I'm doing it unless someone tells me)...

Answers:

It sounds corny, but it does work. Take a few books and practice balancing them on your head.
This is going to require you to stand erect and work on your postural balance.
This was one way that girls were taught to stand and walk like ladies.
When sitting, make and effort to sit at the edge of the seat or sofa. This causes you to have to sit with your back straight. Not having the back of the chair to lean against makes your back muscles have to to do the work, which will improve your posture, tone your muscles will reduce or eliminate back pain.

I have always had comments on how I sit straight and have good posture. I am a guy and I just naturally did it, so much that it became natural and automatic to my body mechanics.
Keep doing these and your body will adjust and your body will naturally not want to slouch. When you start to slouch after having good posture, your muscles will tighten and strain, which indicates your slouching.

Hope this helps.

Personal experience

Hey, Hey --
Slow down a bit.

..I'm 81 and I don't slouch.
..It's only the young people who slouch Especially those who have had a sudden growth spurt.and they think everything around them is shrinking.

.....Anyway old people are allowed to "slouch" because unless they look where their feet are going, they may fall down -and that's very bad.

:-( don't know what happened to the spacing , but it wasn't supposed to happen -Sorry

Sit up straight ALL the time. try to always make you shoulders touch the back of the chair, couch, ect.

I have really bad posture as well, And this helped me!!

Yoga is extremely helpful for your posture.
