What happens if you urinate out of your birth canal?!

Question: What happens if you urinate out of your birth canal?
My cousin who is about 14 came to me with concerns about her urination. She said for as long as she's known, shes been urinating out of her birth canal, or vagina, not her urethra. It has not caused her any problems or pain, or anything. She hasn't told a doctor or adult, for the fear that she would have to get surgery to fix this. She is wondering what caused it, and what she should do, and if it even needs to be fixed because it is not causing any problems or discomfort. Any ideas?

Answers:

She may have vaginal fistulas.

A vaginal fistula is an abnormal opening in your vagina that connects it to another organ such as your bladder or colon. Whatever the cause of your fistula, you may need to have it closed by a surgeon to restore your normal function

10 times out of 10 she doesn't understand where her urethra is located! She is not urinating from her vagina! Unless she has taken a mirror layed on the bed and urinated on her bed while holding her vaginal whole wide open, there is no way she can see where its coming! I would suggest educating her, the urethra is located very close to the vagina, and if she just placed her finger or hand down there it would be very hard to understand what exact spot the urine is coming from! If she really thinks urine is coming out of her vagina, she needs to go to the doctor asap, because that is a major problem, it means her organs are In the wrong place!

Sweetie, I don't believe that's possible! You can only urinate out of your urethra. Wow, I never thought I would use that word in my life!
