how do I tell my mom I got my FIRST period?!

Question: How do I tell my mom I got my FIRST period?
I'm SUPER scared I know shes my mom but shes can be overly dramatic so i don't want that i just want her to be like okay (haha) so yeah how can I tell her? AHHHHHH (btw I'm 12 idk if that has to do with anything)

Answers:

You could do what my friend did. She was at another friends house and texted her mom saying "hey just to let you know I got my period no worries I've got it under control cya" it works really well haha. She was also sleeping over at the friends house so her mom could have some time to let it sink in.

Ah, welcome to womanhood! <3

You have to tell her because sooner or later she IS going to realise. My mum was overly dramatic too when I was your age about puberty. Tell her TODAY. Catch a moment when you are both alone and tell her.

When I was your age, I just came right out and said it. I was very scared but I know she'd been through the EXACT same thing - she still did. She understood.
- 'Mum, I just got my period.'' She was just like ''Ah was it today do you need pads'' etc. A little awkward but I'm so glad I got it over and done with.

These are some other options.
- Say by hinting. ''Mum can you buy me some pads/tampons.. you know''
- ''Ask'' for advice. ''I got my first period, I don't know what to do....''
- Not adding the gory details.''Er, Mum... what did you do when you got your first period? I'm kinda in that situation...''

Well hun, that's the most I can give. Just remember.
- Your mum isn't an alien, she has been through the same thing
- Every parent gets at least a little dramatic when their daughter tells them
- They have probably seen you have entered puberty by your looks or attitude so have a fair idea
- She is worried for you and just wants to help
- It might seem awkward but just say you got your first period.
- You're not alone.

I really hope you tell her really soon, preferably within the next day? Don't be worried love!
xx

just tell her when you both are alone, she shouldnt freak out about it.. you do need to tell her though, and you will feel much better once you have!

Just tell her in passing, like when you're running out the door to something: 'Oh by the way Mum I got my period, bye.'

You have to tell her.
Even though you think she may freak out.
Don't be afraid.
She is your mother. She will understand.

just tell her in private. but it's really not a big deal.
she needs to know so she can get you some pads.

Get her alone and just say
Mom I'm pretty sure I got my period.
I'm 12 too(:
