Tampons are really painful..?!

Question: Tampons are really painful..?
Hey there I've had my period for 1 1/2 years to 2 years.. something like that.
& I finally decided to use tampons and tomorrow is the day I'm taking an eight hour
school trip on a bus.. and hate pads. So at first I couldn't get the tampon in.. I have the
"regular" and the first time I got it in I could feel it but it didn't really hurt.. but I could defiantly feel it.
Then today this morning I put one in and it hurt so bad when I got to school I had to put a
pad because I could barely walk it hurt so bad.. I think I'm doing it right.. I get it in and put the tampon in all the way where only the string is left..

Please help me! by the way
I'm 13 years old and a virgin if it honestly matters.

Answers:

I think what has happened is that you didn't put the tampon in far enough the first time you used one: if you had, you would not have been able to feel it. That you could feel it means it wasn't past the ring of muscle at the opening of your vagina. I think the position of the tampon probably caused some chaffing and this meant that you were sore when you tried to put in another tampon the next day. I think maybe you should leave it for the time being (until you aren't sore), but if you insist on wearing a tampon tomorrow then perhaps get some smaller ones that do not have an applicator so you can push them all the way in with your middle finger (like Lil-Lets). You could also get some KY Jelly to help ease the tampon in (use only a very tiny amount).

try using lights, and start with plastic applicators, theyre much more comfortable. make sure you are completely relazed when you instert the tampon, and also changing them too often will make your vaginal canal's walls dry and iirritated, try switching back and forth throughout the day. it's just something you have to get used to, they're really uncomfortable at first but you get used to them!

virgin or not doesn't matter.. tampons don't hurt I'm 17 and been using them for 5 yrs now... but if it hurts take it out and re try another one.. you don't want to get toxic shock syndrome

Okay if you want to know HOW to, then here:

First stand in a position when you put one of your legs on a chair or something, and the other on the ground so that your legs are opened (therefore your vagina is too). Then loosen your muscles (relax), and then when your ready then insert the tampon SLOWLY in an angle sort of pointing to the middle of your spine, or you can insert it so it's more confy.. Anyway what do i know but yeah thats all i got..
