What color is period blood supposed to be?!

Question: What color is period blood supposed to be?
I'm 13 and i have had my period for almost 2 years. I've asked some of my really close friends what color their period blood was and they all said it was brownish. My period blood is bright red, like the color you get when you get a scrape on your arm or something. My mom said that she has never heard of period blood being that color and she is worried that there might be something wrong with my system that is causing me to get rid of healthy blood during menstruation.

So my big question is, is this healthy, or should i go to the doctor?

Answers:

It ranges from brown to bright or deep red. It's all normal. When it's brownish, it means that the blood is mixed with the actual mucous lining of the uterine wall and normal vaginal discharges. Normally, this happens at the beginning and/or end of your period, and in the middle of it, when the flow is usually heaviest, it's much more red. But if you're not getting the brown discharge, that's fine too. Everyone varies.

Red and brown are both totally normal. Every woman has a different cycle, blood flow, and so on.

its normal

it is healthy

You are fine. My period was usually bright red, and heavy when I was 13. Now it's dark maroon.
