How do you know if your low on iron?!

Question: How do you know if your low on iron?
Ever since 8th grade (I'm in the 10th now) I've been getting headaches daily, and I don't know why. It starts when I don't eat for a while, sometimes even if I eat I still have it, I had a huge headache today and someone asked me if I'm low on iron, and I don't know, but im thinking maybe that's the case, how do you know if your low on iron?
if I am, I wanna test it out by eating meals with lots of iron in them for a whole day and see if I get a headache, consider any good meals?
Thanks

Answers:

There is a link between headaches and lack of iron. Lack of iron increases risk of headache development as a result of lowering blood ability to transfer oxygen. To make up lack of oxygen, blood vessels dilate more, than they should, what can provoke headache. Lean meat, fish, raisins and eggs are good sources of iron.

So yes, it may be a cause. There is no way though to test yourself, to know if you don't have enough iron. For that, you should go to the doctor to test your level of iron.

You could eat a meal that has a lot of iron in it, such as red meat, but red meat has a lot of cholesterol, so be careful.
I would take over the counter iron supplements if I were you.

Best of luck!
