lower left abdomen pain?!

Question: Lower left abdomen pain?
basically since about december, every so often i get weird pains in my lower left abdomen. it's not bad pain, i just worry too much lol. its mostly a dull ache but it can turn sharp for a second or so. its not 24/7, like i saide, only about 1 week/2 weeks a month. i thought it was an ovary cyst, but i'm not sure, because sometimes i get the pain in my other side too, and the pain isn't in the EXACT same place, it moves around my lower area. i've been on microgynon 30 for just over a month, and it hasn't got better or worse since i started taking it. i'm 16 and a virgin. i also get sharp pains around my vulva every so often too. i'm not overweight, but i'm not the healthiest most active person in the world. what could this be?

Answers:

I'd say cysts but get it checked as I don't have polycystic but I get bad pains there all across and they can't find anything but that nothing is wrong...sigh! Anyway, they more or less fixed it by putting me on birth control.

You don't say where in your cycle the pains are, but it could only really be one of three things -
1. Gas in your large bowel
2. muscle pain of some sort
3. Gynae pain of some sort. Probably ovarian, probably ovulation pain (mid cycle?) and normal.

I would get your GP to check it out.

Gas pains? Since they move around. Otherwise, talk to your mother, and schedule a doctors appointment, so you can quit worrying.

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which is multiple cysts on your ovaries that can cause pain. What you described is very much what I experience. Are your periods regular? If not, how long have they been off? Do you get headaches often, do you have hairgrowth where you shouldn't, and are you fatigued a lot? If so you should research PCOS and go from there. But of course, this could just be gas. Maybe keep a log of your BM's and the pain and see if there is a time correlation? Good luck.
