Period, Weirdest thing ever!?!

Question: Period, Weirdest thing ever!?
Okay so the weirdest thing happened to me this morning. While I was still sleeping,I had a dream. Like any other dream I've had, it didn't make any sense. I know it might sound boring at first but please read on! Anyway the dream was...

My family and I were on the highway, except it was like mario karts. (yes i noe, btw I'm twelve going thirteen tomorrow!)Anyway, it was both my sisters driving the car, together! Then we went to a restaurant, and I guess we hit the highway again. Then I had to go to the bathroom really really really badly, and my pants felt all weird. It was the feeling as though I got my period! When I went to the bathroom, I looked around for a decent toilet. And they were all in the open, no stalls! But I still went. When I saw my pants, I completely peed my self! And there was blood all over it too!

Then I woke up thinking I peed myself! Why? Cause the last time I had a dream about peeing myself (when I was 8) I actually did in real life! So I checked my pants by touching my pants, nothing. Thank god! But then I couldn't go to sleep, and I had to pee. So I went to the bathroom, and what do I see! Blood, blood, blood...and more blood! I had a nervous break down, and had to clean the whole thing! Thank god my dad was working down stairs, so he didn't suspect me being in the upstairs bathroom for that long. Also I just got a brand new comforter which I slept with. I ran back and checked for any blood, but thank heavens, rien. I was so relieved. But...

I'm still freaking out about the whole situation. I mean I dream it, and it happens for real! What's wrong with me! Is this a sychologic problem? Do I need to see the doctor? Please help, I have no mother or older sister, and no friends who have had their periods! HELP!!!!!!

Answers:

Your dream was your body and subconscious waking you up in time NOT to have an accident in bed.
You're NOT having psychological issues. No worries there. :)
You do NOT need to see a doctor about it.
You CAN talk to your doctor (male OR female), school nurse, a trusted teacher, an aunt, a grandmother (if you still have one), your friends' moms, or any other trusted adult female whenever you have questions or doubts.
You SHOULD be tracking your period on a calendar. Count today as day 1. On your calendar, mark day 28. You should be getting your next period around that day. Start wearing a pantyliner to bed a few days before that day, just in case.
Now, take a deep breath... let it out. It's going to be OK. :)

Maybe your body is telling you to be prepared for your period. If this is your first than than that is what is happening to you.

No, that's totally normal. You had the dream about your period because you were having your period, not the other way around.

Calm down.

The dream was simply your body communicating with your subconscious mind, telling you to wake up and get pads and that.

And why be worried about your Dad finding out? Men, especially married men, know about periods, they are no big mystery to them. Your father will want to know that you are alright, and periods are natural and normal. Plus you can ask him to get you the pads you need too. That's not a big deal.

However, it wouldn't hurt to talk to an older woman about them, just to reassure yourself that all is well. If you have a nice lady teacher, you could ask her, or perhaps an aunt, or maybe even your friend's mother. But understand this, pet: EVERY WOMAN HAS PERIODS, EVERY WOMAN HAS TO DEAL WITH THEM. They will know how to help you, and there's no need to be embarrassed about it.

This is way more normal than you think. Your brain and body knew you were about to start your period, and also that you had a brand new comforter that you cared about. So, when your period started, your body sort of "held it in" and sent a message to your brain. Being asleep, you couldn't just have the idea "hey, better go to the bathroom & check" , so you had a dream designed by your body and brain to

1. Wake you up
2. Get you away from that nice new comforter and into the bathroom, ASAP!

Once you were there, you had kind of a mess, because you'd been holding it in.

Pretty cool, huh?

Congratulations on becoming a woman. Sounds like you are really in tune with your body, which is a great gift. Don't ever lose touch with yourself.

One more clue - now that you've made this important change, your will notice that often your panties are a little damp. When the moisture in your panties becomes thicker, almost like glue, it means you are going to start your period soon, probably by the next day.

Once again, congratulations.
