*GIRLS/WOMEN ONLY* Is there something wrong with me? Any advice?!

Question: *GIRLS/WOMEN ONLY* Is there something wrong with me? Any advice?
So I'm 14. Currently back on my period for this month. So I know this is not right but whenever I get it, I don't like using pads anymore as they have gotten on my nerves and they are very yucky! I have also tried tampons and they just don't feel right as they are very difficult when I try different ways to put it in and different brands/small or bigger ones. So I just use my clothes instead for the blood to get on (which yes I know sounds unsanitary and unclean but I do bleach my clothes that have blood on them + bleach my covers that I sleep on) and my mom gets mad at me as she says that I shouldn't do that. But I don't listen to her.

Well I always tell her that having this stupid period is a curse to not only me but all girls that don't even want to have kids at this age and most definatley I personally don't want any at all even while I am growing up/become an adult as I have made my final decision and I am keeping my word when I do say that. My mom had gotten her "you know" removed because she had cancer stuff going on there but it's removed and I tell my mom to let me have the same surgery and she says no because it's for medical reasons and not an option I can just sign up for. So I've been researching birth control and no birth control seems to stop peoples periods for good. I've heard of seasonique but you still get your period for 3 times a years and that's not what I WANT!!! I just WANT IT COMPLETELY GONE!!!! So no more will it keep me from going to school on days when I have it and also from whatever else I like to do.

Yes I know many will tell me just to suck it up because we deal with it but I don't want it because I never asked for it just like anyone else and my mom had it removed because she became anemic from having a period which lead to her having cancer developing in her "you know" which the doctor had removed in time to save her life! I don't want to be like her and neither do I want this anymore. I always cry because I have this and it's very frustrating - so don't tell me you always get moody when you have your period because duh! everybody gets moody. Sometimes I always just wish I was born a boy or could my parents just let me have surgery to be a boy instead of being a girl.

I'm asking you is there something wrong with me? Also don't tell me that I'm just discusting and etc. because of what I do every time I get my period. I just want to know is there something wrong with me? Also if you have any advice for me that would be also be helpful....I guess.

Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with you. Many women feel the exact same way as you do. Me included. Now, I have Endometriosis, cysts, and such.. Which make my periods uber painful and almost unbearable. By the time I was 15, I felt the same way as you. I did the same research, and even asked my GYN about having a hysterectomy. Which they promptly refused. There is no magic pill or injection that will permanently get rid of your period either. Unfortunately, it's just part of being a woman. However, my doctor determined that it would be fine to not have my period. SO, my doctor put me on birth control pills (at one point) and had me take the "active" pills constantly, which equals NO period. Even on Seasonique you can just switch to a new pack at the end of 3 months and continue taking "active" pills. I also did this with the Nuvaring.. Meaning, I wore it the full month and did not leave it out for a week. As soon as 30 days was up, I would change to a new one. This also stopped my period. The other 2 ways that I have stopped my period that were more effective and less hassle, were the Depo Provera shot, and the Lupron shot. The Lupron is rather risky though, and can cause osteoporosis at an early age, as it is like a chemically induced menopause. The Depo shot worked very well for me and eliminated my period for years (of course I had to keep getting injections every 3 months). So, in short, you need to talk to your doctor and see if he/she would be willing to put you on a continuous birth control method that will stop your period. They willl determine if it's safe for you. As far as what you use to control your flow during your period, I see nothing wrong with it, if that's what works for you. What do you think women used before pads and tampons were invented?? RAGS!! Yep, rags. That's why it is often called, "being on the rag". So, instead of using your clothing and making your mother mad, try using rags or some old torn up t-shirts, that you ONLY use that time of the month. Anyways, sorry this is so long. I do hope it's helped you in some way. Good luck and best wishes! :)

The Lupron shot also "should not" be used for long periods of time. As it will also cause bone thinning (osteoporosis, etc). Also, you will have to deal with hot flashes, moodiness, and all of the other wonderful (kidding) things that go with menopause. Most doctors will be more likely to put you on Depo. If you're worried about all of those side-effects, I would firmly suggest that you use birth control pills or the Nuvaring continuously. They are a bit safer, BUT you do have to remember to take the pills or change the ring once a month. Either way, try discussing the options I told you about with your mother and doctor. :)

Only wierdos actually enjoy having their period. And while bleeding on your clothes isn't what I'd call normal by today's standards, in days past people used to use rags and old clothes for their period (hence the term, on the rag) So you're normal by those standards at least.

No doctor will give you a hysterectomy at your age, which is what your mother I assume had. It's not going to happen. You say you don't wnat kids now but you never know, it might change in 10-20 years. So sorry to say, but you will just have to suck it up. Seasonique is really the only thing you can do to skip periods (technically, you can just skip the placebo pills in birth control so you never get a period at all, but I don't really know what the side effects of that are) at your age. If you don't go that route, keep trying pads or tampons till you find something you can live with. I personally like OB.

Oh there's also that thing called the Diva Cup. I've never used it, but some women like it. Google it to find out more.

It sounds like you are having pretty bad anxiety issues. It's normal to be upset about periods when you first get them but you sound really upset over it. Also tampons actually work great once you get them inserted right you can't even tell it's in there. They have to be put pretty far in though. You should talk to a doctor about what birth control you can use to help lessen your periods and about your anxiety. I hope this helps.

1. I wish I was a boy too, but hey, I am what I am.
2. I really do wish you'd use pads. Just change them frequently and they won't smell funny.
I use both pads AND tampons.
3. I absolutely hate having a period too. I hate it.
4. There's not much wrong with you. Its very understandable.
5. Get some tampons, and CHANGE THEM OFTEN! I can't stress that enough. Every four hours is okay, unless you have a really heavy flow.

i didnt even bother reading all of that, haha.
but im 15 and i have had my period for about 3 years now.
so i kinda know what you mean.

and yeah, it IS kinda wierd that you use your clothes, but everyone does some pretty wierd things. i dont think anything is wrong with you. i also hate pads and tampons. go to the shop and buy theese pad things called LINERS. i dont know if you have heard of them, but they are like a pad, but they are smalll and REALLY thin. you cant even feel them and they dont get sweaty. i think they are about $5 or something like that.
if you dont want your period you could get this injection thing in your arm, it can take period pains down and it can make you periods lighter or even disapper completely, at least, thats what my boyfriends aunty told me (she used to have it)
sorry i couldnt be much help.

me :)

First of all, your mother did not get cancer of her "you know" from being anemic. What the hell is a "you know"?
Yes, there is something very wrong with you that some professional counseling would probably help. To think that you are walking around just bleeding on your clothes during your period is beyond disgusting. Learn to use tampons. If you use them right, you shouldn't even be able to feel it there. I agree pads are nasty, but you have to use something.
Seriously, see about getting some professional help. You are not right.
Hey, you asked.
