Answers:

Period sucks.
When you think you might start soon, get some tampons(I recommend Playtex Sport) and pads or pantyliners.
You'll probably get cramps in your uterus/lower abdomen and lower back pain.
You may get bloaty, so drink plenty of water to prevent this.
I'd say wear dark colored pants.
It may make you smell bad down there but just keep yourself clean and use scented tampons and pads.
Yeah, you can sleep with a tampon in, just take it out FIRST THING when you wake up.
Athletic activity on your period is harder because you'll be more tired, and it can make your cramps and back pain worse, and can even make your flow heavier. Keep stocked up on your tampons.
If it starts in school or in public and you don't have any pads or tampons, ask a friend for one, or go to the bathroom and fold some toilet paper or tissues into a rectangle a little less than half an inch thick and wear it like a pad. You may also want to wrap a loose end of the toilet paper around your underwear to keep it from falling out.
Also carry a jacket with you so if you bleed through your clothes you can tie the jacket around your waist and hide any blood stains.
Good luck. :)

haha if i were you i wouldnt look forward to it. it sucks. at night time, i have to wear about 3 towels and it then leaks onto my bed and i have to change my sheets. at school, i wear trousers and i have to change my towel at break and lunch. my period lasts for about 7 days. from days 1-5 it is very heavy and then it starts to get lighter. mine doesnt hurt me but i do get stomach cramps. i was like you and i wanted to start my period but now, i dread it every month :/ oh and my friends notice all the time when i am on my period because i am mor moody and i find it hard to do pe with shorts on lol

Dude, go talk to your parents.

When I first got my period, it sucked, Periods always suck. But anyway, You want not to have it as long as you can! You don't want it.
It really doesn't matter if you are sitting or standing, it is less embarrassing to be sitting when you have a stain, but then when you stand to get up or move from the chair, there may be a stain or puddle on the chair.
A precaution to avoiding stains is to change your pad/tampon/liner often if you have a heavy flow, or if you have in a tampon, to wear a liner with it. I do that just in case.
You can wear pants or skirts! I usually try to avoid wearing white underwear or white pants when i'm on my period, just in case it leaks, it doesn't always come out the best in white clothes.
It depends on your body if you get cramps or not, try to avoid eating a lot of salt when your about to or have your period, as it may cause worse cramps than normal.
The smell isn't the most pleasant, but most of the time you can't really smell it.
Of course it's safe to sleep in bed!!! Though sometimes it may leak, but it usually comes out in the wash. Try to buy Overnight pads, as it will probably leak more if you don't have them. AND ALWAYS WEAR PADS, NOT TAMPONS TO BED! It can be hazardous to your health to wear tampons to bed.
If you have tampons, it may be easier and more comfortable to run and do other sports while on your period. Although some people like to wear tampons in Gym Class and Cheer leading and Dance and such you can still wear pads.
If you get your period in school, tell a teacher. If you can, tell a female teacher. But if that's not possible tell the male teacher. If you have stuff in your locker just ask if you can go to the bathroom, if he/she says no, say you have 'female issues to take care of' if there's a stain on your pants, ask to go to the nurse and call home for new pants. If you don't have anything in your locker, as a friend, or ask the nurse, the nurse always has stuff for periods.
There is NO WAY a person can look at you and say you have your period. I mean it is obvious if you are pregnant, or have a stain on your *** or are a women(like age 17 and up) or have large breasts, but when your young, people really can't tell if you hae it or not.

P.S. I suggest U by Kotex brand tampons, pads, and liners:)

Personal Experience

deary me chill.. when you first get your period you will find it easy to cope with then it gets a bit annoing, you can do anything you would normaly do, but try to avoid swimming. if you go to school take about 3 pads/tampons with you depending how heavy your flow is and change it at your break/lunch, to make sure you cant smell it on you, have a bath every morning before you go to school, it does smell a bit 'fishy' but only if you like actually smell the pad. No one will notice your on your period, becasue there i no obvious signs that people can see. for bed time you can get bed time pads which are more thicker and it prob wont come out much while your sleeping becasue your not moving about or standing up, i mostly wear tampons becasue i find them cleaner as the blood is confinded into a small place in you. but when you first start pads are probs easier. also you might get some lower tummy pains.
