Should I be worried about my hearing loss?!

Question: Should I be worried about my hearing loss?
I've been to the doctors and have had antibiotics and ear drops, however my ear infection seems to never go away. I'm tired of spending money on copays, but I always hear a buzz or sort of back sounding noise in my ear and I still have a loss of hearing. What should I do?

Answers:

My wife started with a cold, which lead to an ear infection that got worse and worse. One morning she got up and couldn't hear a thing out of either ear. We went to an emergency clinic and she was checked out and put on antibiotics, which after 4 days had done no good.

We decided to get serious about it she went to see an ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist). Her infection was so severe, that he had to install tubes for drainage. Subsequently, she has visited him and her hearing is gradually getting better, but very slowly.

Bottom line: I'm not trying to scare you but it sounds like you need to see an ENT doc. They will examine you, give you a hearing test and will know exactly what to do to solve the problem.

Good luck.

Sounds like Tinnitus to me. You can ask your GP to send you for a hearing test and it should be able to tell you if there IS a problem. I suffer from it, and I also wear a hearing aid, and it does help.

MRI, Catscan, Xray?? That's not normal...
