How long does it take for the Microgynon 30 pill to start working?!

Question: How long does it take for the Microgynon 30 pill to start working?
I started taking the pill on Monday, I started my period the night before Monday, early hours. I missed the pill yesterday, but took it as soon as I remembered today, then took today's pill at regular time. When is it safe to have unprotected sex?

Answers:

I have been on this pill for 5 years.

If you start taking it on the first day of your period, you are protected straight away AS LONG AS you start the next pack on time.

If you start the pill at any other time, you have to use extra protection for 7 days afterwards (I'd always do 8 to be sure! lol)

Generally missing one pill (this type anyway) does not alter the effectivness of this pill, as long as you take all the other pills on time. You can also miss a pill up to 12 hours and you'll still be protected. If it's over 12 hours, it counts as a missed pill.

Because you have only just started this pill and forgot one, the hormones won't be properly in your body yet. If I were you, use extra contraception for 7 days.

Good luck xx

You've got to be careful as you should (need) to take the pill first day of your period. Otherwise you'll have to wait till the start of your next period. Thats when its safe to have sex. First day of your period.
I've been taking it for last couple months and I have to go back to the doctors to change it as its making me have mood swings, feel depressed and I have no sex drive at all!
So good luck just be careful as you do need to take it first day of your period.

on average 14 days but it depends where you are in your cycle when you started taking it
