Is unprotected sex safe while on birth control?!

Question: Is unprotected sex safe while on birth control?
Okay, so I'm on my first pack of Trinessa oral contraceptive. I did not start it at the beginning of my cycle, as I know I'm not pregnant and my doctor told me I could start right away. The leaflet inside the package my birth control came in said that I needed to use alternative contraception for the first 7 days of using this birth control. I did that. Its been more than 7 days, and I just wanted to know, to double check, so to speak, that that means it should be safe for unprotected sex. No lectures please, I've been in the same relationship for a long while now and I have absolutely no fear of catching anything. I'm probably just over analyzing, but I want to be as sure as possible. Any answers will be helpful!

If that is what your doctor AND packet said, go for it honey! You'll never go back to condoms, I swear. I got on birth control for this purpose. I also believe you are handling this like a mature adult! Have fun and remember to take your pill at the same time everyday! :)

As long as you are not going to catch STDs and you have taken your pills on time every day, you are safe.

Just to let your know, for future reference, having sex while taking hormonal contraceptives is considered protected sex. Unprotected sex is only when no contraception is used (condoms, pill, cervical cap etc).

I know some people start their birth control on the first Sunday after their period starts....in which case it takes a week for the pills to be effective. So if this was the case, then your pills should be working by now.

If you want to be absolutely certain, check with your doctor or phone a women's health clinic.

Safe as far as contracting an STD? NO, birth control pills don't stop the transmission of any STDs. Safe as Far as getting pregnant, no birth control pill or device is 100% percent effective. So there is still a small chance...When one refers to "Safe Sex", they are speaking about using a barrier to stop the transmission of Sexual transmitted disease, mainly AIDS.

I don't care how long you've been in your relationship. Unless you're married to the man he can go off and do whoever he wants to. Why not, you don't have any papers on him. So to think that you can't catch anything is VERY naive on your part.

The only protection is to not do anything. Not a lecture, the truth.

Yeah, you're good to go. Have as much unprotected sex as you want as long as you're taking that pill around the same time every day and you're 99.9% protected from getting pregnant.

Yes, contraceptives cause your vaginal fluids to instantly kill all std's.

They actually don't.

As long as you follow instructions you shouldn't get pregnant. But birth control only protects against pregnancy, not stds....Or a broken heart ; (

I say go for it!

Experience.

Yes, you're fine. **** away.

Maybe, I am not sure.
