Okay, why didn't I lose weight?!

Question: Okay, why didn't I lose weight?
Last week I weighed myself in at 168. This week I've been on a 1200 calorie diet (besides two days where I ate 1400) and been working out every morning for an hour and even added weight lifting. So this morning I get on the scale and it says I didn't lose any weight! (Gained .6...). What is going on?

I know this isn't the magic answer you're looking for, but there could be several reasons for this. 1 of them being if you're about to have your period, it could be water retention. Or water retention due to too much sodium. But without more information about you (age, height, etc) it's not possible to advise.
I'd suggest having a look at this forum for information and support - it's excellent!

It's unlikely that you've gained muscle mass that fast. It takes a long time to build muscle. And to build muscle, you need to eat at a calorie level above maintenance level. You're not going to gain muscle on a 1200 diet.

you might have gained muscle mass.
you need to cut out all junk food and fast food. Also you need to continue this diet for about a month for accurate resutls. A week isn't enough and if you didn't llose this week, don't get frutrated.

You are probably gaining muscle. This is normal when you first begin exercising or you increase your exercise. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism.
