Why do I have to have a period on Seasonique?!

Question: Why do I have to have a period on Seasonique?
I take Seasonique for endometriosis pain and birth control. I am finishing my first pack now(3 months)I have been having a lot of issues. Constant bloating and bleeding for 2 months. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and also, why do we have to have a period at all on this pill? Why not just keep taking the regular pills and skip it all together? Thanks!

Answers:

It takes at the least 3 months for your body to be regulated by a birth control pill. It may take longer on a continuous pill. There have been some problems with shots and pills that stop your periods for such a long time, but with seasonique it's mainly a marketing issue to keep people from being so worried about that. I'd say give it another pack of pills, and if your body doesn't regulate you may need to switch to a different type. Everyone's body reacts differently to different formulations. It's all trial and error when it comes to hormones. At any rate, if it bothers you you should let your gynecologist know your concerns at least for future reference. Hope it evens out for you!
