I have a question about plastic tampon applicators?!

Question: I have a question about plastic tampon applicators?
I am 14 and I just started my period a few days ago, but I want to wear tampons instead of pads because a) I am in high school, and I need to be able to feel dry and whatnot and b) I am a gymnast so tampons would be a LOT easier. So anyways, I got these tampax tampons with a cardboard applicator. I can get the tampon IN, but it hurts when I sit down. I looked this up, and I found that it's probably because it's not in far enough. But I can't get it in any farther. If I got some with a plastic applicator, are they easier to actually get in because you can stick the applicator in your vag? Thank you very much!

Answers:

I'm 13 and the plastic ones are wayyyyy easier! Try Tampax Pearls.

You can have the same problem with either applicator. You are correct, it's not in far enough. All you have to do is use your finger to push it in until you don't feel it. You have to get it in past your sphincter muscle...the same muscle that holds it in. You'll get used to it...TC.

At first I had the same problem! To fix this, follow these steps I use:

1. In the bathroom, put one leg on the bathtub and the other one far away so your legs are spread apart (this will cause the lips to spread)

2. Take the tampon, and slowely put it into your vag as far as you can.

hi im a 12 year old girl i have had my period for over a year. i have used plastic tampons before it is true they are easier to "stick up in my VAG". i have had it get stuck before but it didn't hurt getting it out. i would advise you to use the plastic ones. i hope this helped

Yes way easier!

You're doing it all wrong honestly.

You are NOT supposed to use tampons during your first period, it won't harm you medically if you do, but because first periods are lighter and it will make using them an unpleasant experience. You should use the smallest tampons available with a plastic applicator, I'd recommend Tampax Pearl lites. The plastic applicator does make it easier to use them, as it will slide in easily. You should choose a day when your period is a bit heavier (usually the 2nd day) and a time when you have a few minutes in the bathroom. It is normal for tampons to feel a bit uncomfortable and may even hurt a bit at first, but once you get the hang of using them, you won't even feel it there.
