Question: First period q's plzz answer LADIES?
im nervous about my first period so i have a few questions

1. are pads messy?
2. Are tampons uncomfortable?
3. Does leakage happen alot?
4. does period blood smell?
5. cramp busters?

Answers:

dont feel too uncomfortable about your first period.
i personaly like pads. the new always infinity ones are the best one for me. they have the wings which help avoid a small leak so you wont stain your clothes.
tampons arent for everyone. if you are very athletic or swim, use a tampon. but if you dont then i suggest you use a pad. however, if you insert the tampon correctly, you shouldnt be able to feel it:)
leakage doesnt happen very often if you are changing your tampon after the suggested time or use pads with wings.
you will be able to smell your period blood and you will feel like others can smell it too. but dont worry, they cant:p
midol helps alot with cramps, headaches, and bloating, and some people dont get that many cramps or bloating so hopefully it wont be too bad for you.

all me:)

I'm nervous about my first priod too but I can answer your questions.
1. They can be. I'm gonna start with them since they seem less scary. They can leak if you have a heavy period and dont change the pad but if you remember to change them every few hours you should be ok. They aren't really messy because the blood is absorbed so you dont feel wet or messy. Some people dont like them though because they can be uncomfortable and you cant swim in them, but they are great for beginners.
2. They are supposed to be uncomfortable when you first start. I am not starting with them because it scares me to death to be sticking something inside of me. It can hurt but if you relax it should go right in. I would start with pads.
3. Leakage only happens when you forget to change your pad or tampon or when you have a very heavy flow and arent prepared. As long as you change your pads or tampons every few hours you should be fine.
4.Period blood does smell. Apparently pads smell worse but they only really smell when you don't change them for a while. As long as you change them often you should be ok. NEVER use scented pads because they can cause infections and still smell bad if you dont change them for a while.
5. Try drinking hot tea or putting a heating pad on your stomach. Also, taking pain killers like ibuprofen is good.
Hope I helped!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Another worried teen without a period.. :(

1. They can be. If you use pads, I would try Always Infinity. I love them(:

2. They can be if they are not in correctly. If they are in correctly, you shouldn't be able to feel them.

3. With pads, yes, if the pad isn't far up enough or far back enough. With tampons, not as much unless you don't change them on time.

4. You can smell it when you change pads/tampons, but others won't be able to smell it.

5. Try a heating pad over your lower stomach, or skullcap (available at herb shops) and two ibuprofen.

Good luck!

4 years of experience :/

1. They can be. Change them as often as you feel necessary. 4-6 hours is the recommended time span I guess. Don't go in water with them, that would be messy!

2. They are only uncomfortable if you put it in wrong. If you do it correctly, you can't feel it at all. Tampons are the best invention ever. If you use the tampons without applicators, make sure you still stick all of the cotton into your vagina though, which may mean sticking your finger up there. That's kinda gross, so I'd suggest the ones with plastic applicators. They are so easy. And the directions are on the box, so no worries!

3. It doesn't happen very much unless you have a really heavy flow or you don't change your pad/tampon often enough. That's your decision though, I can't judge how heavy your flow is gonna be because I'm not you! haha

4. It kinda does smell, but only you can smell your own really. Unless you don't change your pad or tampon enough. Supposedly, other women can smell it when you wear pads, but I've never had a problem with tampons. Just make sure you keep that area clean by showering often!

5. I usually use 2 Ibuprofen and a heating pad on my lower back & stomach. If you don't have a heating pad you can pour uncooked rice into a sock, tie it off with a knot, and microwave it for a minute. It works like a dream!

Good luck :)

1. Not if they have a sticky thing that attactches to your underwear, but they are uncomfortable.

2. I don't know yet.

3. Refer to #3

4. Kind of

5. Sip some dill pickle juice. Gross, but it works.
