Hymens- what are they?!

Question: Hymens- what are they?
I heard they are a piece of skin that covers the opening to the vagina so i took a mirror and looked "down there" and i didnt have any skin covering it at all. Plus i can put my finger all the way inside. I've never had sex so why don't i have one? I used to be a horseback rider if that can really break your hymens.

Answers:

The hymen doesn't cover the opening completely.. It isn't like the foil on a peanut butter lid. There's a hole in the center for tampons to go in and menstrual blood to flow out.

since i currently have health class i can answer that.
it is the reason that when someone has yadadada for the first time they bleed.
but it can be gone other ways such as using tampons, falling off a bike.
and being a rider has no affect if you fall it might.

horse back riding can cause it to break but it isn't like on the outside or close to the outside it is pretty far in
