First time tampon user (girls)?!

Question: First time tampon user (girls)?
Hey, Im 14 (almost 15 years old) and im a freshman in high school and i have been on my period since 11 years old. I wanted to start using tampons instead of pads because i hear they are much more comfortable than using pads because pads feel like youre wearing a diaper (I totally agree with that statement now) And i am sick of blood leaking onto my underwear when im laying down/going to bed. So ive decided to go to the store and get "Tampax pearl plastic Super plus" because i have kind of a heavy flow. Ive never used a tampon before, any suggestions or recommendations please? Does it hurt... etc?

Answers:

First of all, although you may have a heavy flow, I wouldn't recommend using a super plus tampon (they absorb LOADS, and are a little harder to get in) but it's up to you.

It doesn't hurt, as long as you're relaxed. And applicators make it a fair bit easier as it's plastic & smooth and not like stuffing a wad of cotton in. Just make sure you have clean hands, & don't leave the tampon in for more than 8 hours - there's a risk of the bacteria causing TSS. You may find that you don't in-fact need super plus tampons - blood often appears more while it's on those horrid pads. If you still have white bits of cotton showing on the tampon after 8 hours, you need to drop down an absorbency.

You may find that you have trouble getting it in; but you just have to try again until you get it in. The chances are, you're just slightly tense, therefore your vaginal walls are tighter. Don't worry about it getting stuck or lost inside you - that doesn't happen & the tampon can't go in too far. So long as the string is hanging out, you're fine. Even if it wasn't you'd just have to put your finger in and dig it out. If the worst came to the worst, you'd have to get a doctor or nurse to do it, but trust me, you'll be fine! Remember, once the tampon's in you shouldn't be able to feel it. If you can, it's not in far enough, so try pushing it in further, or taking it out and trying again with a new tampon. Try squatting with your legs apart, or one leg on the toilet seat when inserting it, & angle it slightly back (going straight up will hurt!!) to the lower part of your back,

Hope this helps, & good luck x

EDIT;

It sounds like you haven't inserted it far enough. Push it in a bit further - it can't go in too far so don't worry about that. Just leave the string hanging out! x

it will feel awkward you first time using it but as for putting it in you one foot on the toilet and one on the ground (this position makes you vagina the straightest). gently and slowly insert it all the way till it hits the back and push the stick in all the way until the plastic applicator is all the way out. if it feels uncomfortable take it out and try again. you should not be able to feel it inside of you after about 10 minutes of getting used to it. hope this helps! :)

Here is a link that should hopefully guide you and give you all the information you need to know about trying tampons for the first time. Providing it is properly inserted, then it shouldn't hurt. If you can feel it inside you then it's positioned incorrectly.

it's going to feel pretty awkward the first time.
also, you should probably get a smaller size, like regular.
once you find you're used to those, and if you're still needing to change it a lot, then start with super.
but definantly dont start with it right away.

the first time i used a tampon i followed the instructions in the packet thats probably better than asking everyone one the internet because everyone is diffirent but the instructions gives ideas for all people

13 year old me

depends from person to person x

My brain :P x

NEVER start with huge ones!!! get regulars so u can learn to use them and if they fill up to fast, get supers. I reccomend getting a multipack
