Intercourse whilst pregnant?!

Question: Intercourse whilst pregnant?
I'm 14 weeks and I'm not tired or anything nor do I feel nauseous so I don't mind the thought of having sex. My bf really wants us to get together again but iv heard it can cause a miscarriage is this true? Would it hurt the baby and are there any other side effects it could cause? The baby is far more important than my sex life so I don't want to take any risks.

Answers:

Hi - sex during pregnancy is normal and natural. A healthy pregnancy will not be disturbed by penetrative sex or female orgasm, however bear in mind that in the very last few weeks labour can be prompted to begin early due to factors contained in male semen.

My best advice would be to ensure that your boyfriend uses a condom when you make love; this avoids any possibility of unwanted infections.

The baby is well-protected inside you, and your cervix is closed and plugged.

Enjoy your sex-life; good luck to you both.

Unless you have special reasons to avoid sex it is generally safe to have intercourse during pregnancy. You should talk to your doctor if you are unsure.

Sex while pregnant is absolutely fine. there are no proven side effects. sex is actually one way to enduce labour when a baby hasn't been born by the time of the dues date. hope this helps!

Just don't do anything weird, crazy positions or extra rough sex and you should be fine.

Your BOYFRIEND? Why isn't he your husband?
