Answers:

It's your first period! First periods are normally lighter than others.

Okay so what you need to do is tell your mum/dad and get them to get you some pads (posh name: sanitary towels). Basically these are just absorbent pads which stick into your underwear to absorb the blood which comes out during your period.

If you don't know what the blood's from I'll explain. Once you hit your first period your uterus will prepare each month as if you were going to have a baby. So it thickens the walls of the uterus. When you get your period the blood you get is the uterus getting rid of the lining when you don't get pregnant.

You might get cramps during you period which are like stomach aches. You'll get these because during your period you're uterus contracts (squeezes together a little) and can cause a little pain. If they bother you just take some paracetamols, have a nice warm bath or use a hot water bottle on your tummy.

Your period will come once a month each month. While you're just started you'll probably find that you might miss a period some months so you'll go for one month without one but that's compeltely normal. Your periods will be irregular to start with, which means that they'll come at different times each month (eg. on the starting on the 3rd one month but then the 15th the next month) So each month try noting down when your period comes so when they start to regulate (come at the same time each month, usually after about a year/year and a half) you'll know when to expect it.

You'll need to change your pad about 4 or 5 times a day. There are different pad absorbancies. Your periods will be light, normal or heavy, this basically means that you'll get little blood coming out each month, a regular amount or a lot. If you have a lot of blood you'll want to get a higher absorbacy pad and vice versa. Remember to take pads to school with you when you're on your period so you can change them during break and/or lunch time. Try to keep a period in your school bag most of the time so you're not caught out when you need one, if you do find you need one when you don't have one then just as one of your friends or ask your school nurse or at the schools reception.

Don't be worried about your period, it's completely natural and every woman has it :) Talk to friends, or your mum or post more questions on here if your worried and want to know more :)

It's your PERIOD!

First periods often look more like brown discharge than actual blood, be prepared that your next one will more than likely be heavier and more blood-like. You should write down the date it started so you'd know around when to expect the next one, but don't freak out if it doesn't come at that time, it is normal for your period to be irregular for the first 2-3 years of having it. This means it can come every 3 weeks or every 3 months, or anywhere in between. In rare cases, a girl may have her first period and then not have another for several months. Your period will last 3-7 days, you should wear a pad until you haven't seen any blood for 24 hours though, because sometimes it can stop and resume bleeding a few hours later.

Congrats and welcome to womanhood! Now, you should tell your mom you've gotten your period so she can get you some pads =]

yes sounds like the beginning of your period, don't worry it may take a few more days for the cycle to be in full swing. Speak to someone you trust, like your mum.
And yes stock up on some pads!
Welcome to womanhood :p

Im pretty sure you just got your period (:
Congratulations! When I first got my period mine was brownish/blackish.
Nothing to worry about hun, just put a pad on and tell your mom.
