Question about my period... mind helping?!

Question: Question about my period... mind helping?
Hi. I am 14 and I have not gotten my period yet. I have had vaginal discharge and other symptoms my period is on my way. I'm happy and excited at the fact I'm growing up but I'm worried about one thing. I have to kind of tell you about myself a little for you to understand my question... --
A have terrible insomnia that I can't get rid of no matter what I do. I cannot fall asleep or feel even remotely tired until 3:30-4:00 in the morning. I am active in the late hours, doing things like watching TV, drawing, or playing video games. And for the past couple months I have been so afraid I will get my period late at night while my family is sleeping and NOT KNOW WHAT THE FLYING FLAMING GOOSE F*** TO DO. I do not want to wake my mom up. So, to save me future paranoia, what would be the best thing to do if my period came late at night? I do not have pads or tampons for myself and all the other ones are in my mom's room, I don't know where exactly they are and she is a light sleeper. So, what would I do?

Answers:

Just tell her you think your period's coming. Not like she'll get mad at you. A period lasts anywhere from 4-7 days..after it kinda subsides you might spot a little bit. Sometimes it's gradual and sometimes it's just like..BOOM. But most people are different. To keep from panicking from cramps..take however much midol, Tylenol, or advil you need..Turn on a movie and put a heating pad under you (if you're laying tummy side up, put the heating pad right on your lower back around your butt area) It'll really stink if you're like me..and have irregular periods with excruciating cramps...but it's very unlikely and you should not be scared.

I would just ask your mom to buy you some heavy flow pads. If you have the feeling that you are going to start just put one on before you go to bed. If it happens there is no reason to be embarrassed! It all happens to us girls. I started mine the morning before school. I told my mom and she understood! You should talk to your mom! She wants to help and do what is best for you!
Good luck!

...Why not tell your mother that you're worried about it when she's awake?
Just ask her for some pads to use when your period DOES come.

Otherwise, you're supposed to like...layer toilet paper in some fashion and put it on your panties.

edit: why on earth do I have a thumbs down?
regardless, stop being embarassed. more things are going to happen with puberty.
