What could be causing this smell?!

Question: What could be causing this smell?
Long story short. My vaginal area smells. Yeah, gross I know.
Basically it smells kinda strange a bit like pee, and normal discharge mixed into a smellier, swettier stench.
I dont wipe myself after going to the toilet occasionally 'dribble' (eww but relevant) which can turn my discharge a little yellow and a little smelly.
I'm not itchy or spotty or any different to usual down there I just smell.
I dont change my underwear as often as I should and I think I might have some kind of sweat problem down there. I'm always warm and when I pull my underwear down I feel like I might have been a little sweaty. I wear cotton childrens knickers, should I wear more netted ones that are still knickers for better ventillation?
I have a lot of allergy problems and find it hard to wash myself as I get irritated and dry quickly. a strong fishy smell after about two or three days. The blood and urine and discharge all mix and it stinks out my clothes and I can smell it off my person, what can I do to get rid of this? I fear people can smell it off be as it is a sudden strong whiff thats like !!!! to smell.
I'm allergic to just about every pad, and cant wear them for more than three days as I get very sore and itchy, as in red raw sore to the point I'd rather go padless. I cannot wear tampons as they hurt and they are vile and wrong and shouldnt even be in the shops!
I will never take such a sick disturbing thing as the pill either (not that this is going to solve my problem)
Why do I smell so bad? I have always produced lots of discharge but as I've gotten older I've gotten smelly like an old cat.
Help ladies?

Also, on my period I smell really really bad, a stro

Answers:

Continue to wear cotton underwear, change it at least once a day, wear skirts or dresses instead of pants to keep the area drier and less sweaty. Try to gently dab yourself dry with toilet tissue after urinating rather than wiping if this makes you sore. This will help prevent part of the odour which is concerning you. If you can, wear loose cotton underwear such as French knickers rather than snug bikini panties. Your body odour will vary throughout your monthly cycle, and will often become stronger and more noticeable in the few days before you start your periods. I do know of other women who cannot use soap because of skin problems in that area. Have you tried using an emollient cream instead? If you can't use anything else, you definitely need to freshen up once or twice a day with water. Allowing a buildup of stale sweat, secretion and urine in the area will in itself cause soreness and discomfort, not to mention odour.

Are you sure that the reaction you have to pads is an allergy rather than a reaction to sweat and friction? I have problems myself after a couple of days with redness soreness and discomfort from pads. It's not an allergy, however. I think it's not uncommon to find pads causing discomfort, particularly if you are wearing them inside tight clothes which increase friction and don't permit air circulation. If you object to using tampons have you considered trying a Moon cup during your period?

As you get older, particularly as you reach menopause, your natural vaginal secretions will change, becoming more acidic and smelling different. This has been my experience. However it is worthwhile visiting your doctor if you persistently detect a fishy odour, since you may be suffering from a bacterial infection which might benefit from a course of antibiotics. If the acid balance inside the vagina becomes disturbed the bacteria always present in the area can take hold and cause unpleasant odours.

I would suggest talking to your Gynecologist.

Some of the causes could be: Antibiotics, inflammation of the vagina, tumors of the cervix, wearing underwear at night, pantyhose, poor hygiene habits, and even using soap.

Everyone can make suggestion, but we can not give you a diagnosis.

Okay... Welll first off always wipe yourself (Use baby wipes) if you have too and Using a ph balancing wash for down there helps and wearing loose fitting underwear for a couple of days that should help it :)

See a doctor.

Sounds like you don't spend enough time scrubbing your vaginal area in the shower. This is very important especially during your period. Take the time to clean it thoroughly and don't be afraid to really get in there. By keeping it clean, you will avoid a smell. During your period, you need to consider showering more often and cleaning your vagina more frequently.Just clean it until the smell goes away. If the smell doesn't go away, you need to see a doctor b/c you may have an infection.
