What to do when you find out you MIGHT have Cancer? Please help!?!

Question: What to do when you find out you MIGHT have Cancer? Please help!?
am 20 and last December found a lump in my neck. I couldn't go to the doctor earlier, because I had problems with my health insurance and was in the middle of a health insurance change. I went to the doctor today and showed him the lump and he said he thinks it MIGHT be nothing to worry about and it could be an infection or allergies but still wants me to go to the doctor to get a chest X-ray cause I might either have Lung Cancer or Lymphoma. and I don't even smoke or drink to even get Lung Cancer. Right now I am freaking the **** out! I am so sad I wanna cry. I haven't even told my family yet. Why is this happening to me?
He took some blood work from me to make sure its not Leukemia and prescribed me so antibiotics and allergy meds and wants me to came back in 2 weeks.

Answers:

Don't worry until you have something to worry about. It will do you no good to speculate on what if's. Your lump can anything. Just wait and try to put it out of your mind.

Anyone can get pretty much any form of cancer; there are just some things that supposedly reduce your chance of certain types of cancer (such as not smoking to reduce your chance of throat cancer).

All i can say is tell your family and make sure you get all the tests the doctor wants you to. If it is serious, make sure you find the best doctor but above all make sure you have a strong support group around you.

If it is cancer they will find it so just hope and pray it isn't.

Good luck :)

First relax and breath he hasnt said its actually is cancer yet he said it could be i know thats hard to hear and its easy to believe the worst but u have to keep ur head up and try to believe everything will be ok. Think positive but be prepared for the worst i think u should talk to ur family u need them to help u stay strong. Plus i shouldnt keep them out they love u and only want the best for you

He prescribed you antibiotics from cancer? Wow, doc from the future. also, how does one diagnoses possible lung cancer via the lump on the neck? You must be mixing something up man.

Find a support group that deals with it. Cancer can be a emotional thing and sometimes too much for a person to deal with. Do yourself a favor and get some support
