Can breast cancer be spotted by bleeding?!

Question: Can breast cancer be spotted by bleeding?
Hi, I don't know how to word this properly but someone close to me has a had a breast check and when the doctor felt her nipple blood came out so now she has to have a biopsy and mammogram, but she was told there is only a 2% chance she will have the disease.

But I always thought breast cancer was spotted through lumps.

Answers:

Normally breast cancer is found after lumps are suspicious. Bleeding like that is not normal and I'm sure they just want to do a mammogram to rule it out. Maybe it will turn out to be some time of infection that they can treat. Don't freak out until you know the results for sure, especially with such a low percentage chance that's what it is. Good luck.
