You should really be changing your pads (or tampons) every 2-4 hours because it'll stop you from having that embarrassing moment when you get a smear on the back of your pants or getting an infection 'down there'. So change them, on average, every three hours eat bananas, drink tea, get a hot water bottle and eat ice cream while watching random sh*t movies. And don't go to school today if its too bad because you wont be able to concentrate. Good luck :)

Unfortunately, all levels of bleeding is perfectly normal. Sometimes they will be light, sometimes very heavy. You could try a mix of tampons and pads, for added protection.

By tomorrow the heavy bleeding may very well have stopped. If heavy bleeding persists, your mum will have to take you to see a doctor, as missing school etc because of your period is not a good thing. You may need to take the oral contraceptive pill to regulate them.

You are not on birth control and you've had your periods now for a few years, our hormones change as we mature and at 20 your more mature than say, 12 yet? So it stands to reason that your periods are heavy (as your not on birth control which actually lightens the load) and you can have them earlier or later, it's nature.

Well, there really isn't any such thing as a 'normal' period, it's just that it fits within certain parameters.

2 pads a day means that your period was in fact very very light.

Now you need more changes and very possibly pads with higher absorbency, so go get yourself package of Super or Super Plus pads. For sleeping, you need Night Time pads, which are very absorbent and a bit longer.

And after you get up, the blood flow tends to be a bit heavy because of gravity, so you need to be prepared to change a few times during the morning as well. Have your Mum tell your teacher so that you don't get hassle for being a minute late to class because you need to change your pad.
