I'm having trouble breathing?!

Question: I'm having trouble breathing?
Today It was actually warm out so me and my dad went running for the first time in months. We walked for about 1.5 miles then ran up 3 pretty steep hills. By the time I got to the top of the 3rd hill I was gasping with everything in me for breath and my chest was burning. After about 10 minutes of sitting on the ground, I stood up and tried to walk but my legs and arms were shaking so bad. It became hard to focus because I was dizzy and my ears were stopped up. Also, I felt like I was going to throw up. I've never felt this terrible before. It was far more then just feeling exhausted. I walk a hour a day, along with other exercises. I'm 19, 5 3" and weigh 115 lbs. I'm on my period at the moment so could that have anything to do with it?

It's been almost 6 hours and I still feel horrible and my breathing has become worse. It feels like something is pushing down on my chest. Has anyone ever felt like this before after running a lot?

Answers:

you need to call a doctor, or a triage nurse, or go to the Emergency Room. it is crucial you get help, there is a possibility that you have asthma. it is possible to be diagnosed later on in life. it is also not a normal "out of breath" thing. i have the worst asthma of anyone i have ever met, being hospitalized 5-10 times a year, i know asthma frontwards and back. you need to get help. if it feels like someone is sitting on chest, or something is pushing on your chest, then you need help.

i teach my doctors things about asthma when im at the hospital.... go before the situation turns dire.

I'd definatly see a doctor asap. Your breathing isn't something to mess around with, i'm not trying to scare you..it's probably nothing major, but you need to leave this to a professional.
