Question: Implant + thrush plz help! wud really apperciate your comments!?
Hi Everyone!
I got the contreceptive implant in about 3 months ago,
When i got my implant in me & my partner had sex without a condom for the first time and everything was fine and it was going great for about a month after i never had any problems.
But about 4 weeks ago i had my period and before a week before my period i had sex and got like a itching an burning sensation after it and then a day later i got thrush.
Anyway i dont have my period at the min..
but i had sex about 3 days ago and after it i got a really bad burning and itching down there and i got in the shower straight after but that didnt seem to help... so about half an hour after it had kinda calmed down but wen i went to the toilet it was so tender to wipe myself and now i think i have thrush again cuz i keep getting slight itches and its worse wen i have to wipe myself it feels tender i dont have any discharge but i no u dont need discharge to have thrush!
But its really annoying me because i dont no if it the implant that causing it? or my partners semen? or what?
Iam really sorry to go into so much detail about it but i needed to tell the whole thing so u cud understand! its definetly got to be something to with one of the two because i wudnt of got the same symptoms twice!

I would really apperciate all your advice on what it could be and what i could do to prevent it?
And i no its not a STD because i have been with my partner for 5 yrs!

Thanks everyone! xxx

Answers:

An IUD can increase the chances of you having yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis. If you're getting a milky white discharge that's kind of clumpy, it's a yeast infection, and if it smells fishy, then bacterial vaginosis (no necessary change in discharge). I would suggest taking the Canestene oral pill with the anti-itch cream combination to help sooth you. If that doesn't work, it's probably BV, in which case a doctor can prescribe a gel that is inserted up the vagina and acts as a mild anti-biotic.

Some women are also allergic to copper IUD (this can occur over time), if this is the case it will have to be removed.
Honestly, there is much less grief with the pill, it's a pain to take but much more comfortable than an IUD.
