Pubic hair shaving questions?!

Question: Pubic hair shaving questions?
Alright, this is a little embarrassing…. Actually, very very embarrassing. So much that I am actually using the account I never go on, just to ask.

Yea…I'm a 16 year old girl and tonight….
Well, I was bored tonight and…shaved down there. It was very literally, quite on impulse. Really I don't have anybody whose going to be looking down there anytime soon…so I have no idea why I did it other than maybe because it sticks out of my bikini a little? IDK what was going through this strange mind of mine.

Anyways…I am severely regretting it.

One, I shaved AGAINST the hair instead of with it, that's a no no, right?
Two, I have heard practical horror stories about as it grows back, it being extremely unbearably itchy. This is a major problem, because I mean I do a whole lot of things that require me to be up and moving. And the itch is usually at its worse when I am moving…and I am not just going to be able to itch it whenever because people will always be around me. Ugh I've gotten myself into a mess. My question is how long (like how many days/weeks/months) will it take to stop the itch!? On a scale of 1(nonexistent) to 10(terrible nd unbearable), how bad is the itch? And Also, is there anything I can do to make it less severe/the hair grow faster?

Thanks in advance. :)
And please no mean comments, I already feel bad enough about this. :(

Answers:

I always shave against the hair, it's a lower cut. Never heard of that being wrong, and it never caused me problems.
I rarely get an itch from shaving, unless I haven't in a while, then for the first couple of days I'll randomly get an itch, which is I guess at a 6 at its worst. But it usually only happens once in the day, maybe twice, so I can find a reason to excuse myself and take care of it, then I'm fine the rest of the day.
You don't need to feel bad, literally every friend I have--whom I'm comfortable enough to talk about things like this--shaves 'down there'.
No one's going to see me any time soon either, I just do it for a personal preference. I hate how it looks when I haven't shaved. Haha
If you decide to continue, just be careful. Razor burn is hard to avoid since the skin is so sensitive, and you'll typically get small red bumps here and there, and ingrown hairs are pretty common, which are easy to take care of.
And cuts are a b**** down there, so watch out.

(:

Well like if it was like extremely hairy and you shaved it within 10 or 20 minutes that maybe the cause of having so much itching, not being mean but never shave down there again unless you have to

Research

there is nothing wrong with exploring..... it will be fine, when it starts to itch just rub on some moisturiser or some soothing gel

hope this helps

been there done that

hey... do not worry,,,,,take it easy baby...just apply some cheam and run those area bit. then u will feel all the good in the world.....just try it and let me know how it feel

it took mine 2 days

It is okay. Actually I have heard good deodorant down there, not on the lips or anything but on the outer part where you shaved relieves itching and prevents razor burn. It is not as big a deal as you think. This one time won't do anything. It will grow back normal. If you do it a bunch the only difference is it may not be as curly after a while. You are fine to shave against the hair as well, otherwise you wouldnt have been able to get the hair off. You didnt make that big of a mistake sweetie, you will be okay. Just know that it isnt recommended by doctors because of infection risk and such, but i have done it for years and have never had problems. Good luck, and the deodorant thing supposedly is great, i have friends/family that swear by it. Also, mine never really itches or has ever for that matter so maybe you will be lucky like me. Also, be sure to use good body wash or shaving gel/cream when you do it as this keeps the area moist to prevent razor burn.

What I would suggest if you can afford it, is to go TOMORROW to a laser hair removal clinic and get them to do a proper job so you won't itch. (I did the same thing when I was 13 and remember trying to casually hold a ruler so that I could scratch my pubes in class).

I don't remember how long the itch lasts, but it's totally embarrassing and you have to itch all the time.

Now if you can't afford laser removal, I would go to a drugstore and buy a creme removal that is made especially for "the bikini area" as they so delicately call it. That will remove all the hair and you won't itch.

If you don't have the money, could your Mom help you out?

I'm smiling (but not laughing at you) because I remember so well doing the exact same thing. I think most of us women have done that at one point or another in our lives.

Best of luck to you, and get it fixed TOMORROW!

You will be ok, so first just calm down! :) I've only ever shaved my bikini line, but I use cortazon cream. It helps a lot with the itch and helps keep the razor burn/irritation under control. Just apply it to the area you saved, twice daily. It works great and I definitely recommend it! :) If you don't have any, in the mean time, put some non-scented lotion on it, like eucerin. :) Don't fret! It will grow back eventually!

This is awful, this happened to me my first time, but you could use some anti-itch lotion, but be REALLY careful where you apply it, do NOT let it go inside, if you know what i mean. Usually.. it takes maybe a week to get the itching to stop and the itch gets pretty bad.. But remember, lotion helps A LOT.

Sorry if this isn't much help, but you'll just have to deal with it or shave again but do it the right way.
As i mentioned earlier, first time i shave it was horrible. But then i continued to shave and now it seriously does not itch at all and it's more comfortable. If you decide to shave again the best way to do it would be by letting warm water soften up the hairs, should take maybe 5 minutes to get them soft, then you apply shaving cream, make sure it's one for sensitive skin then you shave with a 4 bladed razor, make sure it's not one of the cheap ones either, those HURT. But after you've shaved apply a good amount of body lotion.

Good luck with this!
