That's normal. It only looks small, but it can expand to fit the tampon.
The tampon applicator is small enough to insert the tampon usually without any problem. It doesn't hurt, but it can take awhile to get used to having a tampon in there.

Tampons aren't very big and when the time comes that you want to use one, I'm sure you'll have no problems. If you're concerned, put some lubricant on one of your fingers and insert it into your vagina. A tampon is probably about the same size or smaller than your middle finger.
Tampons arnt big at all, the first time I got my period I was 10 and I HATED pads they make you smell and you feel gross so my mom put my first tampon in for me, it sounds weird but shes my mom not like shes never seen me before.
I don't know, but babies are a lot bigger than tampons and they find their way out.
