Is it possible for women to have two periods a month?!

Question: Is it possible for women to have two periods a month?
An if so what does it mean what's wrong? What causes this

Answers:

The most common reason for bleeding twice in one calendar month occurs when a normal period begins on the first or second day of the month, and then another arrives at the very end; because the normal cycle length (from the first day of one to the first day of the next) ranges from 23 to 35 days, this can allow two perfectly normal periods to arrive in the same calendar month. Most of the time, however, when women talk about having two periods in a month, they are not referring to this circumstance. Often they mean they are starting a period every two weeks or so -- certainly less than the 23-day interval that is considered within the normal range.

Anything that can disrupt the delicate hormonal dance that produces ovulation can lead to either skipped periods or periods that come too often. Hormonal imbalance as a cause of frequent periods is often seen as a woman nears menopause. Thyroid dysfunction may also be a factor.

Hi, I'm an R.N. and I work in the Operating Room. In our Gyne suite, we see lots of women with abnormal periods. As one of your answerers mentioned, it is often due to menopause. But there are a variety of other causes as well, such as Uterine Fibroids. As the uterus gets older, it can act in unusual ways, with bleeding in between periods, skipped periods, frequent periods, etc. Regardless, you should see a Gynecologist to make sure nothing serious is going on.

This is one example. In New Guinea, for some reason white women can have 2 periods in a month on a regular basis and it appears to be related to the climate. When they leave, their periods settle down to the normal of one per month average. Of course there may be medical reasons for the to occur as well.

Yes, it is possible, my mum has it.
And nothing is wrong its just a natural thing.
You can actually get these things that can go up there by the doctors and it slows your period down,
but my mum said they are really uncomfortable so she had hers removed.

i sometimes get 2 periods a month, mine is due to me have cysts on my ovaries.
