Is it safe to have sex after a week of using the birth control pill?

I haven't started having sex without a condom or taking a birth control pill yet, but yesterday I went to the gynecologist and got Yaz birth control. I'm going to start taking it tomorrow, and he said after a week of taking it I could start having sex without a condom. I also read on the Yaz website that it would be safe to have sex after using it for a week as well.

That being said, however, my friend told me that you have to wait at least two months before having sex without a condom on the birth control pill, and I've heard other people say that you have to wait a month. I don't know why my doctor would tell me a week, and other people would tell me 1-2 months? Where are the other people getting their information?

P.S. yes, I'm legal to have sex, no, I'm not going to get any diseases because I'm only having sex with my boyfriend who was a virgin before we started (and I was too) so I don't want to hear anyone yelling at me for asking a question about birth control.

nope your fine. if your taking the pill properly and at the time of the day at you should, everyday. then your fine. just make sure that your consistent with when u take the pill.
